The Mayo Clinic and The New England Journal of Medicine are now reporting evidence that the disease may be linked to medical conditions ranging from osteoporosis and infertility to stunted growth, irritability, and depression. As these studies and reports start to propagate into mainstream medicine, physicians are becoming more aware of the symptoms associated with gluten and gliadin protein intolerance. As a result, the rate of detection and diagnosis is on the increase. Newest estimates are that the number of sufferers may be 4 times as large as the current population of 31 million.

'Watching my husband suffer from what he terms as being 'glutened,' is frustrating. It was that frustration and the long, disappointing drives to health food stores that supply gluten free foods that became the catalysts for the creation of the site and the superstore. Chang's who have begun catering to this growing population.
